Submitting Your Websites to Search Engines – The Truth…

Submit Websites To Search EnginesSubmitting websites to search engines is not necessary these days. And doing it repeatedly is just a waste of time and money (if you opted for the paid ones.) A lot of webmasters say that it used to be a great way to get your site indexed fast.

During my first few months on internet marketing, I spent a lot of money for these search engine submission sites. Several of these sites claim that they are going to submit your site to a hundred thousand or more search engines. Talk about extreme! I only know a handful of search engines that are worth worrying about.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo, or MSN use crawlers or spiders to crawl the net to find sites. These spiders follow every links that they find on a particular website. This should only be your reason to use those submit services as they get you links back to your site.

Why are there search engine submit services?

I think it’s because several website owners got used to it. Especially the new ones. Many offer this kind of service because you, as their would-be customers, look for it. That’s why a lot of web designers and search engine optimizers offer this kind of services because they may lose to their competitors that offer it.

I still think that several of these search engines submit sites are scams. They take your money for something that is not really needed. I didn’t submit any of my new sites and yet they are getting indexed within the next 48-72 hours.

How will search engines index your site if you don’t submit to them?

They will…in time and if you do it right.

What you need to get indexed? Links to your site – the more important and relevant those links are, the better you will rank. (I talked about on-page SEO on one of my post, if you want to learn more about it, read Search Engine Optimization Simplified)

You will attract these spiders and crawlers faster and more often if you get links to your site. Yes, much faster than using those search engines submit services.

Try to find as many websites as you can – websites that are relevant to yours. Then find a way to get your link in to that site.

This is what I said a while ago that this should be your only reason to submit to search engines: BACKLINKS. And you don’t need to pay for it; there are a LOT of free directories to submit.

If you’re new, one of the first things you should do is submit your site to as many free directories as you can. Some of these directories get spidered all the time. When a search engine spider crawls through one of the sites you submitted, it will follow the link to your site. (Submit your site only once, no use submitting it repeatedly.)

This technique may not do a deep crawl on your website right away, but it will in time. Just create enough content – unique, high quality content. These spiders love content and will visit your site more often if you update it with fresh content frequently.

Doing the above technique should get your website indexed in the next 48-72 hours. After getting indexed, all you need to do is concentrate on getting better quality links. You can get links by posting in forums, blog commenting, leaving a product review, and so on…I’ll give more link strategies on my future posts.

There is no shortcut to everything. You need to work for it to achieve the results you wanted. Practice getting quality links to your site everyday and offer something that the search engine crawlers and spiders love – and I guarantee you that your website will get indexed. REAL FAST.

Get those links!
